Winter Holidays

Hi, winter holidays makes you think of somewhere tropic, blue skies, lots of sun, sea and sand…ummm instead its the theme over on the Tando blog this week and today I'm sharing the project I recently had published in Craft Stamper…

The base was a Tando Art room base and we had strict guidelines to adhere too.  I found it incredibly hard to photograph this are there is so much bling and sparkle on it, see a copy of the latest craft stamper for much better pictures!!

Bling!

Hi, its my turn to start off the new weekly theme over on the Tando Creative Blog…and this week our theme is:-  BLING - well, with Christmas approaching very fast its a great theme to kick start all those projects and cards we have, well I have at least, still to make…

So, here is my BLING project:-

I choose two circles from the circle grab bag and painted with white paint, I then painted mini flowers and mini leaves 2 - once dry all elements were given a covering of rock candy distress stickles…bling was added to the middles of the flowers...

Using another couple of circles I made these:-

This time I adhered christmas paper to the base and then sanded back, the trees are from the grab bag of wonky trees and were painted with green acrylic paint, a die cut, bling and ribbon was added to complete the pieces.

Here they are together:-

Paperartsy - Masterboard part 2

So, whilst inspired with the paints, stencils and pens I decided to make another masterboard, for the Paperartsy challenge, but this time  with a different colour scheme.  (Also spurred on by the fact I needed to make some christmas cards!! lol)

So, this time I tried the colour base suggested by Leandra in her video….

and as previously there was a lot of paint left:-

one of the cards made:-

the tree is from Lin Browns Christmas stamps from last year… the corner stamp is from a JFY set.

Paperartsy masterboards part 1

Hi, its ages since I took part in the fortnightly challenges over on the Paperartsy blog, but, since I love making masterboards, it was just the boost I needed to get my act in order…

I really liked Leandra's bright masterboard, so using the same colour palette I made this:-

I always have loads of paint left however careful I am pouring it out, so I also made these:-

I did add some more doodling to these:-

The masterboard was then cut up into sections and one was used to make this:-

The baubles are from Tando creative and were painted with paperarsty fresco paints and doodled.

I also added some smaller elements to make a matching tag, here they are together:-

Trees….

Oh dear, how long has it been since I last blogged? is anyone still out there?? lol

Today sees the start of a new theme over on the Tando Creative blog…and this week we are all concentrating on TREES… I wonder if any of my DT buddies will do Christmas Trees??  My offering is:-

My base is the larger mixed media board which was painted using the decArt mixed media fluid acrylics and the tinting base… I then used Kaz's tree stencil - this is a fab stencil, you also get the tree mask and two overlays for the leaves… I then painted a mini owl and stamped a very old stamp - the sentiment of which is very apt.

Do pop on over to the Tando blog this week to see what my DT buddies have come up with and also don't forget that the challenge is open to everyone - have a go and you might win an early Christmas present!!

Faery Doors

Hi, the theme over on the Tando blog this week is Faery doors - Tando now have a Faery Door Kit 1 out and I have used this for my project:-

The door base was given a coat of dark brown acrylic paint and then a layer of Paperartsy Crackle glaze - the green is the new edition paint by Paperartsy called "Granny Smith" …once dry the edges were given a brushing of distress ink.  The bricks were painted and then dry brushed.  I would seriously recommend that you keep all packaging until you have adhered these bricks to the actual base!  I made a pair of wellies out of clay and molded a plant pot - three flower minis were painted and doodled…the post box was cut from some corrugated packaging….the toadstool is in the kit and was given a dusting of fairy dust!!

Pop on over to the Tando blog for more Faery projects during the week.

Tando Creative - Colour Week.

Hi, its colour week again over on the Tando Creative blog and for September this is the colour base:-

Great colour palette isn't it?

This is my piece for this week:-

My base is from the large straight edged arches pack - instead of using the outers and making a niche, I have used one outer and three inners….these were painted with acrylic paint and left to dry….the outer edge was left, the top was stencilled with the long flourish stencil and the sequin waste stencil.  Various mini flowersmini leaves 3, butterflies and mini owl 2 were painted with the same paint, hi-lighted and adhered to the base.

There are lots of great projects planned for this week, pop on over to the blog and take a look.

Hi, can you believe that today is my last post as Guest DT over on the DCM blog? I've enjoyed my stint and hope that you've all liked my contributions to the weekly dares…so, for this last week, the dare has been hosted by Jo and her theme is:-

FEELING FRUITY

grief that one had me stumped! but then I remembered these pear stamps in my stash…

my base is a A5 sized kraft cardbase to which I adhered a piece of card that I had applied paperartsy paints, stamping and doodling….he pears were then stamped onto white cardstock and fussy cut out…a piece of washi tape was added as their base! "smile" is a really old paper salon stamp which was then given a covering of glossy accents.

Tando Creative - banners

This week over on the Tando creative blog the theme is Banners…

I have made this Happy Birthday Canvas

I added some grungepaste thro' a stencil onto my bare canvas and once dry added various neutral tones of Paperartsy Fresco paints blending them together with cut and dry as I went…. once dry I sprayed with a couple of distress inks in blues and greens and then gave it a spritz with perfect pearls in heirloom gold - once all was dry I sanded it back and added some treasure gold.  The small straight edged banners were painted with the same paints (different colours lol), these were then stamped, edged with black pen and then given a coat of Paperartsy metallic glaze before dots of liquid pearls were added.  My owl was painted with the same paints, doodled and adhered together, he too had a coating of metallic glaze… the Happy Birthday is currently only available from the Tando stall at local craft fairs (keep your eyes peeled for one in your area - or check the front page of the retail shop - the next one nearest to us is in Thetford on 6th September) the words were painted and edged and spritzed and sanded… and then given a coating of gloss glaze….

There are some lovely pieces planned for this week so do pop on over to the blog and take a look - also, don't forget there is a permanent competition running - take a look at the blog to see how you can take part.

DCM - TOUCHY FEELY

Hi, I'm a bit late posting today, again!

Somehow I've managed to bang my elbow and boy is it painful - the bruising has now come out so it is now feeling much better  and I'm able to move it!

This week the DCM team's theme is:-

TOUCHY FEELY

Here is my card:-

So, onto a white card base I added grunge paste thro' a Tando Creative long flourish stencil - once dry I added a piece of ribbon and added a piece of chiffon ribbon (another couple of feely pieces)…along the side I added flowers made from paper and felt, the stamens in the middle of those flowers are quite sharp - so another element - the wire and pearl embellishment added another feely…as did the wire twisted from my flower head…a hand cut banner and paper bow finished off the piece….

Do pop on over to the DCM blog for some more touchy feely pieces…

The base was given a covering of acrylic paint before being stencilled with the same paints using the sequin waste stencil and the harlequin stencil - these were both then given hi-lights using black and white pens…I then added some black flourishes using the long flourish mask before finishing off my piece with "Vogue" by Andy Skinner.

So, for today, the theme was an inspirational picture of which you had to choose 3 elements to include on your card - here is my card for this week:-

The stamps are by Artistic Outpost and coloured in using distress ink…the paper is from a graphics 45 6x6 pad, the arrow (Tando Creative) was painted with acrylic paint and sanded back.  The book frame is from the Tim Holtz tag die and has been coloured with distress ink and treasure gold.

August...

Its August - can you believe it - 8th month of the year - where is this year going?

As its the first week of a new month over on the Tando blog we have a colour theme:-

this month I have made a card:-

my base is a 5" x 7" card base, I stencilled twisted citreon distress ink thro' the tando sequin waste stencil…taking a piece of cardstock I brayered (of sorts, since my brayers roller has had it and I can't find the news ones I bought!!) acryllic paint and once dry tore strips that were then edged with distress ink.  If you are lucky to attend a craft show where tando are exhibiting you will see that they have a selection of cut "words" that can be decorated to match your project, "happy" is one such word that was painted with acrylic paint and then given a layer of deco art gloss finish.  The words are not available on the website, but, do give the stand a look if you are in a fair….

Paperartsy - time

Time has been the theme these last two weeks over on the Paperartsy blog… loads of things have been happening this fortnight and I've only just finished this piece.

I took a photo of it earlier but couldn't get it straight, so the memory card went back into the camera, but, it looks like the locking bar on the side has broken off and the card is locked!! fingers crossed the other half can:- 1) unlock it or 2) has a spare!! lol

Anyway, here is my wonky project…

I used paperartsy fresco paints on my canvas, along with various stencils and a text stamp…. the central clock is by Tando and was painted, stamped and then a covering of crackle glaze..the clock arms were given a covering of frantage embossing powder… the stamped birds, clocks and the measuring tape are all stamps from the hot picks set 1107 - all have been stamped onto smoothy cardstock and then coloured in using distress inks… before being cut out and given an layer of glossy accents…all edges had some treasure gold added.

Paperartsy take 2

Hi, another post from me today, unheard of hey!

I just adore stencils and decided to have a play yesterday with some clean and simple cards…. its getting so expensive to post bulky cards so I like to add dimension using colour instead and using stencils and masking really helps to achieve this…

Based loosely on Paula Pascual's card I have made this:-

I used distress inks thro' my line stencil for the base and another spotty stencil for the background, also using distress ink.  My Darcy Mini 11 for my main image and coloured in using my intense pencils and then added some stickles and once dry a blob of perfect pearls finished it off…

TFL xx

Layers...

is this weeks theme over on the Tando Creative blog…and here is my layered piece:-

My base is a mixed media board - my first layer was the paint the base with gesso.  Then, once dry, I added a layer of paint…. the third layer was some text stamping with left over paints… the next layer was to stencil thro' the sequin waste mask and the "have your say" mask and next layer was stencilling white paint thro' the baroque mask… my final layer was two painted, stamped and glossy accented hearts from the heart grab bag and some die cut words.… the edges were painted and doodled.

Paperartsy stencil fortnight

Over on the Paperartsy blog this fortnight the theme has been based on stencils.  I must admit I have a slight addiction to stencils and have loads… and, unlike some other products, all have been used - ok, some more than others, but, I just love the effect they have with different mediums on my projects… so, for the Paperartsy challenge I have made this journal page…

My first layer was to add grungepaste thro' a Paperartsy stencil (EEG016) and then when dry I added fresco paints…I think, and I'm sure, they were the new Lynne Brown colours…. once these were dry I then reused the same stencil and added black chevrons and dots… using some of my left over paint and a piece of cut and dry I added some sequin waste stencilling… I also added some letters and numbers….Taking some smoothy cardstock I stamped from the Lin Brown plate 16 colouring in using my new inktense pencils - I layered up the flower and added a small piece of bling… the larger flower had a funky stem added….

Tando Colour challenge

Hello! its nearly the end of June, where on earth is this year going? its really scary how time is flying… just seem to start a new month and its over…its Colour theme week again over on the Tando Creative blog and this month these are the colours to use:-

Not the usual colours I'd work with, but, thats the whole point of pushing the boundaries and working on these themes isn't it!

So, here is my piece:-

This month I've used the smaller mixed media board as my base and layered on Paperartsy paints, the stencilled thro' Tando masks:- have your say and the sequin waste…. these where then hi-lighted using white and black pens…. I also stamped in paint and added treasure gold to the sides… the mini butterfly, mini flowers and mini arrows were all painted using the same paints and then hi-lighted using the black and white pens…perfect pearls and beads were also added to add some definition.  The saying in the middle is a very, very old Hero Arts stamp - one of the first ones I bought I think….

There is still time to join in with the challenge over on the Tando blog - pop on over and if you're lucky you might be the lucky winner of some fab tando goodies…

heat it up

Over on the Tando blog this week the theme is Heat it up…

I have taken a Karen Gothic Arch Frame and added Wendy Veechi green fern embossing powder to the outer edge and heated, whilst still hot I have pressed a stamp into the melted powder to give the edge a bit of texture.

My inner section was coloured using distress inks in fossilised amber and twisted citron I then stamped an image using black ink.  The white board means that the inks blend so well together with very little effort and the colours stay true.  The board takes heat and moisture without bending or warping in any way shape or form so is a great base to then add a layer of ultra thick embossing crystals and apply heat…

Pop on over to the tando blog this week to see more heat it projects.  Don't forget there is a challenge running every week visit the blog for more details and how to win prizes!

Can you bottle it?

This fortnight over on the Paperartsy blog the theme has been "bottles" I decided to make a journal page:-

My background started off as left over paint from the previous post - I always mop up excess paint and add to this art journal - there are loads, and I mean loads, of pages with paint on and nothing else just waiting for the day!! lol.  Last week I decided to add the paint using a nearly dry baby wipe which really mottled it down a bit - the colours were all fresco paint - I think it was amethyst, turquoise, and the two new  yellows from Lin Browns colours (can't find them now!!) I stamped, in fresco old gold paint, the circles from Ellen Vargos plate EEV06. I added paint thro' a piece of sequin waste, stamped my faithful text stamp with snowflake and doodled with black and white pens….washi tape was added and Tando bottles were painted with pewter and then outlined with my black liner pen and then a coat of crackle added - I had already done this and discovered that my black ink had run when I read Leandras post which said to heat set!!! duh, I think the runs add a little something lol but I will remember this tip for the future…. the tando heart was painted with red and the tando arrows painted with old gold….my titled was a tando stencil using little black dress.

Hope you're all enjoying this gorgeous weather.
